700 rides done!

700 rides done!

I’m an OG Pelotoner, we bought the bike in 2017 before all the craziness of the present time. My husband, who researches everything to death wanted an indoor exercise bike to train on during the winter months. Living in the Pacific Northwest the winters are wet and I’m not a huge fan of him riding in the pitch dark at 4:30 PM while it’s raining. Luckily for me, he isn’t a fan either. He started doing research on getting a trainer or one of the several indoor spin bikes on the market. When I say research, I’m talking about reading hundreds of reviews and making spreadsheets. It took several months for him to decide what path he wanted to go down.

I was an athlete in high school and college but after graduating, working around food all the time, then having kids I had ZERO time for myself (I mean I didn’t go pee by myself for 8 years) let alone a workout. I tried videos, working out with a friend at a gym, and running (which I hate with a passion). When Mike finally decided on a Peloton we agreed that for the price I had to use it at least twice per week. That statement seems laughable now but I was so skeptical of this bike. Since it was 2017 it was only the bike, no tread, no bootcamps, no Pilates, no dance cardio very little strength; it was a lot of post-ride stretches, and a bit of yoga.

I got on that bike for my first ride, thought I was going to die, and then my ass hurt for two weeks. But, I kept showing up. I rode with all the different instructors to find some that I “connected” with. My person(s) on the Peloton are @denis__morton (we’re the same age, he rides to the beat, and has amazing musical taste), @mattwilpers, and @mattymaggiacomo.

Through my trials of trying to do things on my own, I learned that I can’t. I need someone to tell me what to do and when to do it except on my own time. This is the true genius of Peloton; you receive world-class instruction when you want it. There are days when I do 60 or 90-minute rides and then there are days when I have 20 minutes to work out. But, since it’s in my house I get to decide when I workout.

Peloton now has running classes (indoor & outdoor), bootcamps (on the bike and the Tread), a huge strength library, a new, fancier bike, Pilates, tons of yoga, and all the stretching. During the Pandemic they added family & kids programming.

I’ve done 711 rides, 555 stretches, 302 strength classes, 47 yoga classes, 34 meditations, 5 Bike Bootcamps, 4 walking classes, 3 cardio classes, and one run. I am so proud of myself. I showed up day after day for me and my time. I GET to do this, I don’t have to.

I love seeing so many people getting bikes (or treads) now. I want people to love it as much as I do because it’s truly changed me. I’m happier, healthier, and love the community of people I’ve never met who fill me up every day.

P.S. Not an ad, I just freaking love this bike & the community. BUT, I do have a referral code if you need one. :)
