Five-minute Taco Seasoning

We eat tacos or some form of taco something every week. I stopped buying store-bought seasoning years ago. But, with M being diagnosed with Celiac it’s even more important for us. Wheat is present in a lot of store-bought seasoning because it acts as a thickener. You can play around with this base recipe to suit your needs but this works for us time and time again. And, you probably have all the ingredients sitting in your pantry right now!

Taco Seasoning

1 Tbsp Chili Powder

1 Tbsp Ground Cumin

1 Tbsp Paprika

1 Tbsp Dried Onion Flakes

1 Tbsp Garlic Powder

1 tsp Onion Powder

2 tsp Dried Oregano

2 tsp Sugar

1 tsp Salt

1/4 tsp Black pepper, ground

2 tsp Cornstarch

Combine all ingredients in a jar and give it a shake or in a bowl and mix. I store mine in a spice jar in the pantry to grab when I need it.

When you’re ready to use it I use several tablespoons, I always eyeball it! Then I add 3/4 cup of water per 1 lb of ground meat; just like in the store-bought packages. If you are using it on fish no need for water.
