Tournament Weekend Day 2

1st in our division, 5th overall!

Day two of the tournament was an early one! The shotgun start was at 8 AM which meant we got there super early to warm up and have breakfast. And, it was raining! The outfits had to be updated on the fly due to the weather and I’m so glad I didn’t wear my skort otherwise I would have been so cold by the end.

Traci and I had some trouble in the sandtraps on day one so we spent some time in the practice bunker in the morning. They have always been my nemesis but 20 years ago I could avoid them pretty easily. Currently, I feel like my golf ball is a magnet to sand traps but I’ll get there.

Traci’s husband arranged for a caddy for us on Day 2. He was incredibly helpful in club & shot selection. And, my green reading skills were validated because every call he made I thought the same. He was positive and encouraging the entire round. We were paired up with some older ladies. They were very nice but not as fun for us as the first day. But, man I was jealous when it started to rain hard and they had doors on their cart!

Traci and I played great the second day, despite the never-ending drizzle. With five holes left to play the rain started to come down hard, the fairways had giant puddles and the greens were soaked through in spots. I had never been so glad to have pants on. Our poor caddy was soaked through but he stuck with us.

When we finally ended the round I joined the long line of women waiting for the one hairdryer to try to dry my tush. All of the towels we had in the cart were soaked so it was an effort in futility to stay dry. As players strolled in I enjoyed hot chocolate and chatting with other ladies.

We had a lovely plated lunch and ended with the results. Traci & I finished first in our division and 5th overall. I won $120 to spend in the Pro Shop at Inglewood. I was NOT expecting to do so well! Letting go of my expectations and having fun made me play better. I have a long way to go to get as good as I used to be, and maybe I never will. But, I’ll be playing a lot more!
